Donating Dogs to Loving Paws
If you are a professional breeder/shower of AKC registered Labrador Retrievers or Golden Retrievers, we are interested in talking to you about breeding stock and puppies.
Loving Paws accepts both purebred and mixed breed dogs donated from individuals and animal welfare groups if the dogs meet the following conditions:
- dogs must be calm, quiet, friendly, good with children, not easily distracted
- dogs must be easy to groom
- dogs must not tend to drool
- dogs must be spayed/neutered (exceptions made for potential breeding stock)
- hips must be x-rayed OFA good/excellent
- dogs must have a CEE/CERF showing no eye disease
- mixed-breed puppies less than six months old are not accepted
- dogs over two years old will not be accepted (except breeding stock)
- we do not use dogs of arctic, guarding, herding, hound or toy breeds (this includes German Shepherds, Rottweilers, & Dobermans)
- dogs must be free of any health problems and genetic diseases
- dogs must be current on all vaccinations including Rabies, DHLPPC, and Bordetella
- dogs must be at least 45 lbs as young adults
- retrievers of field trial stock are generally too active for our needs
- dogs must be free of skin allergies
- dogs must not have been recently exposed to Kennel Cough, Giardia, or other contagious diseases
If you live out-of-state, we ask that you be responsible for shipping, telephone, and vet costs.
